New IRC Server

So, we have done some minor updates to our IRC server mIRCd.
Server adress is same as before, mircd.gotdns.org on ports 6667, and 8080.

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat, and is one of the oldest chating protocols still going strong.
Read about it on Wikipedia.

For connecting to IRC, mIRC is a great program for Windows, if it does not fit you, check here

What is Torrent?

Torrent is:
1. A *. torrent file is used in peer-to-peer technology, specifically in a BitTorrent client program. A *.torrent file is used to download other files. The *.torrent file is usually small, and directs you to a tracker. The tracker directs you to other computers, like your own, so that you can download from them.
2. Torrent, is a television series on G4techTV Canada.

4. Torrent, Calencia, is a municipality in province of Valencia, Spain
5. Torrent (Kendall Logan), is a superheroine in Marvel Comics

We are going to take a closer look at option number one. You can find places on the internet where you can download these torrent files (ThePirateBay,Mininova,etc). When you click and download these files, you will be needing a BitTorrent Program. There are loads of programs out there... µTorrent, BitComet, Azureus, etc. i prefer µTorrent, it's small, takes about nothin from ur cpu, and is effective.

Note: downloading\uploading any kind of copyrightet material is NOT legal... but... then again...

Folder Guard

Folder Guard is a program that keeps your things "locked" or "hidden" from other persons, using your computer, or network. It is simple to use, and gives you a lot of information about the aspects of what it really does.
If you dont know your way around your computer as it is, this is not for you!
If you are a computernerd, wanting to lock files out from family or firends, on your lan\computer, this is right for you....

There are two things about this software that i dont like:
1. It has a trial period of 30 days. (i like my programs to be free)
2. It does not have a "group" policy thing. If you have a lot of users on your computer, and you want different users to access different folders, you would have to set the configurations for each of the user. Not for a user group containing the users you want the setting to apply to.

This program is effective, and a very "strong" program. NOT TO BE TOYED WITH.

Just a personal update..

My computer recently crashed, so now i am stuck using my family's computers... have already ordered a couple of new motherboards, and some ram, hope to be up'n runnin before this week has past off... My personal contribution to this blog has been pathetich for a while now, but i am going to get back here strong... going to start to write a new program review just now... so.. get ready!

Skypecasting

So, skypecasting is a new and interesting feature that skype resently launced. For now it's in beta, or alpha, the official version in "preview". The actual talking itself works great, however, there still are quite a few features missing.

basicly it's like a big conferance, with up to 100ppl, and the moderator, or host can mute and unmute the mics of all the participants.

Tested it today, with no topic to talk about, however we keept talking for a couple of hours.

The consept in trilling, and i'm thinking about doing it on a more regular basis.
Most likely weekly, but time will show :p
